Handlan Chapter Archives
Migration Week Bird Count:
Our Migration Week Bird Count starts on Saturday, May 4, and runs through Sunday, May 12. While most of the bird lists submitted will come from the greater Kanawha and Ohio River Valley areas, we decided last year to count birds from anywhere in WV, since we may have a few members who are farther afield during that week.
Remember, record which species are seen when and where. Do not need to count the numbers. Send your results to Jim Waggy at [email protected]
Annual Picnic:
Annual Picnic at Coonskin Park. End of the year business meeting and annual spring picnic. (6:00pm)
This is a potluck dinner, so bring a covered dish of your choice - main dish, dessert, or salad. Water and ice will be provided as will plastic plates, cups, dishes, table cloths, eating utensils.
We are aiming for shelter #19, where we have been the last few years. If for some reason #19 is not available when we get there, we will use either #18 or #20, which are in the same general area. See the map. At the Gorman area (on the right), turn left - pass through the gate and go up the hill - go all the way up the hill until you see several picnic shelters. Turn right into the parking lot for shelter # 19.
This will be last meeting on the year.
Spring Hill Cemetery Walks:
Russ Young is planning three of his Sunday bird walks at Spring Hill Cemetery, with each of them starting at 8:00. The first one will be Sunday, April 28, and then he'll have them on the following two Sundays (May 5th and 12th). Meet at the parking area by the cemetery office. - - Rain or Shine.
