The Brooks Bird Club Nature Foray 1940 ~ present

The Foray is held each June in various regions of West Virginia suitable for bird and natural history studies. The purpose is to offer members and students the chance to be in the field and take part in an ecological study of a selected area.
The program is planned so that everyone can pursue his/her own interests. There are classes and field work in birds, ferns, mosses, flowers, grasses, trees, geology, fungi, butterflies, herptiles and small mammals. The interdependence of all living things is learned anew. Scholarships, which include room and board at the Foray, are offered. This introduces people to the rewards of the club, and attracts young adults who can benefit from the club and contribute to its work. Any BBC member is eligible for a Foray scholarship. Children under the age of 14 can attend the BBC Foray for free on the condition, they must be accompanied by at least one full paid parent, grandparent or guardian. Members who are 15 and over who want to apply for a BBC Foray scholarship must complete a Scholarship Application. |
