​2023 BBC Early Spring Meeting                                                                                            March 10th - 12th

​The BBC 2023 Early Spring Meeting will be at North Bend State Park in Cairo WV. 
The event starts on Friday March 10th and runs through Sunday the 12th.  Check in time on Friday starts at 3:00pm.

BBC Early Spring Meeting ~ Schedule of Activities: 
Friday Afternoon: Begins with members gathering and socializing, the Friday evening events start with a group dinner at 6:30 pm.
Friday Night Program: Nick Liadis.  Nick is the founder of Bird Lab, which creates and implements bird-focused conservation practices through the integration of research, education, and community science–that together–create healthy ecosystems.
​Nick will present​​:​ A program based on his current research.

Saturday: Begins with an early hot breakfast. Field trips will set out at 9:00am, there will be a choice of trips including one going to several of the Ohio River hotspots for waterfowl and the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge. 

Saturday Evening: Activities will begin with our dinner banquet between 6:00 ~ 6:30pm. (Exact time will be noted at the event)
Saturday Night Program: Dr. Ross Brittain. 
Ross will present: The ​natural history of the Northern Saw-whet Owl in West Virginia.
One of the most secretive species in West Virginia is the Northern Saw-whet Owl. Dr. Ross Brittain will present a compilation of research on these secretive owls including breeding surveys, fall migration banding operations and a nest box study sponsored by the Brooks Bird Club. Information will include the preferred breeding habitat for Northern Saw-whet Owls in the highlands of WV, estimates of the potential number of breeding pairs, the variability of the magnitude of fall migration numbers, the general direction of migration movements and nest box use rates by both owls and small mammals.

Sunday Morning: Begins with a hot breakfast, followed by our spring membership meeting and lots of socializing.

Total cost is $135.00 per person for double occupancy -  $205.00 per person for single occupancy. 
​The above cost includes everything, all meals, lodging, programs and field trips.
