BBC 90th Anniversary ~ Schedule of Activities                                                        Reservation deadline is September 23, 2022​
Friday:
  • BBC Officers and Board Members meeting at 2:00pm.
  • ​BBC members can check in at the Hawks Nest State Park Lodge any time after 3:00pm on Friday Oct. 28. ​
  • ​Time to relax and enjoy the surroundings with some old and new friends. ​ 
  • Dinner (Time TBA)
  • Evening Program 
Friday Night Program 7:30pm:

Karen Vuranch will be presenting our evening program. 
Storyteller, actress, and writer Karen Vuranch weaves together a love of history, a passion for stories and a sense of community. She is known for her traditional storytelling, plays based on oral history, and living history presentations of famous American women. She brings history to life through her unique performance style, which combines storytelling and drama to create an engaging presentation.

Karen will be playing the part of Mary Ingles from the book Follow the River, by James Alexander Thom.
Mary Ingles was twenty-three, married, and pregnant, when Shawnee Indians invaded her peaceful Virginia settlement, killed the men and women, then took her captive.

Saturday Night Program 7:30pm:

Jodi French-Burr will be presenting our evening program.
Jodi is a lifelong natural and cultural heritage enthusiast. With a degree in Recreation & Wildlife, she began an in-depth study of the flora and fauna of the Appalachian ecology. Jodi currently is a National Park Service Park Ranger at the New River Gorge National River where she helps develop and coordinate annual events.  Jodi is a Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics Master Instructor, as well as an instructor and a leader for the New River Gorge Chapter of West Virginia Master Naturalist. Her love of nature comes through in her naturalist work as a storyteller, sharing tales of flora and fauna folklore and mythology. “There is always something exciting to discover and learn in nature!”

  • ​9:30am ~ Annual Fall BBC Membership Meeting
  • Socializing ​before heading home

Weekend Costs:

​Total cost for complete weekend: (includes lodging, meals and programs).
$200.00 (per person) based on double occupancy ~ $325.00 based on single occupancy. 

​Total cost without lodging, lunch and breakfasts:
​$90.00 (per person) Includes all Friday, Saturday and Sunday programs and dinners (Excludes lodging and breakfasts).
