Headquarters (Wheeling) Chapter
The Brooks Bird Club Headquarters (Wheeling) Chapter, Wheeling WV.
The BBC originated in Wheeling and for many years all of the meetings and events were held and planned here in Wheeling, hence the name 'Headquarters'. As it's been the case for many years now, the Brooks Bird Club no longer runs its 'operations' from Wheeling, the BBC 'Entity' (Officers and Board of Trustee members) currently have two business meetings per year at various locations in WV.

Program: Searching for the Eastern whip-poor-will. By Christina Slover. In 2012, WVU graduate student Christina Slover began surveying for Eastern whip-poor-wills throughout the Monongahela National Forest. The surveys helped her discover more about whippoorwill habitat. She was also introduced to an ongoing National effort to better understand nightjars called the Nightjar Survey Network. Since the completion of her Masters Christina has continued to search for whip-poor-will's by creating new nocturnal routes in Monroe County, Ohio. Come learn more about Eastern whip-poor-will habitat in WV and how you can contribute to nightjar surveys. January 6th, 2024 With the evenings getting darker sooner, this will be a mid-day meeting with a potluck lunch. Possibly a walk prior to lunch, weather depending. Program: A Naturalist’s exploration of the birds, wildlife, pyramids and pharaohs of Egypt. By Jim and Elaine Butler. WOTH found on nest along the South Fork of Ten Mile Creek during our outing. We are always looking for ways to get younger bird & nature enthusiasts interested in joining the club. Let us know if you have any suggestions!
