2025 BBC Early Spring Gathering March 7th - 9th
The BBC 2025 Early Spring Gathering will be at North Bend State Park in Cairo WV.
The event starts on Friday March 7th and runs through Sunday the 9th. Early Friday check-in time, 3:00PM.

Friday Afternoon: Begins with members gathering and socializing, the Friday evening events start with a group dinner at 6:30 pm.

Program: The Evening Grosbeak Road to Recovery Project and the Stokes Guide to Finches of the United States and Canada.
From backyards to wilderness peaks, finches are some of the most exciting, mysterious, and popular group of songbirds. Matthew will introduce us to the 43 finches of the United States and Canada, described in the Stokes Guide to Finches. From feeder-favorite goldfinches to Red Crossbill tribes, to least known mountain-top Black Rosy-Finches to endangered Hawaiian honeycreepers.

Matthew Young is a co-lead on the Evening Grosbeak Road to Recovery Project in addition to being the Founder and Board President of the Finch Research Network. Matthew worked at the Cornell Lab across 15 years where he worked on Golden-winged Warblers, Voices of Hawaii’s Birds, Merlin Bird ID, and was Project Lead on Lab’s first Irruptive Finch Survey in 1999. Co-author on Stokes Guide to Finches of the United States and Canada and is widely known as a preeminent authority on finches of North America.
Saturday: Begins with an early hot breakfast followed by the daytime field trips. Our main field trip will be heading to the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge. After leaving the refuge, we'll stop and bird at several Ohio River hotspots on both the WV and OH sides of the river. Heading back to North Bend, we'll continue birding the North Fork of the Hughes River and North Bend Lake.
Saturday Evening: Activities will begin with our dinner banquet between 6:00 ~ 6:30pm. (Exact time will be noted at the event)
Saturday Night Program: Presented by BBC Member ~ Rodney Bartgis

Sunday Morning: Begins with a hot breakfast, followed by our spring membership meeting and lots of socializing.
Total cost is $190.00 per person for double occupancy - $285.00 per person for single occupancy.
