Evening Program: Members Nature Photo Night ~ Bring a few of your favorite nature photos (on a flash drive) to share on the big screen.
September 14, 2024 ~ Quinn/Weeks Farm Picnic
With the fall migration starting, some BBC members may prefer an earlier bird walk. Join us for a bird walk around the farm at 8:15am with a brunch menu at 10:00am and the meeting at 11:00am. There are plenty of places to sit around the house for birding, so anytime anyone wants to arrive is fine. Please use Calendar for directions.
Sunday August 25th 2024~ Runyan/Beatty Pool Picnic
Saturday., at Goldfinch Ridge (aka Beatty/Runyan home) 10:00 walk in the Beatty Arboretum, noon potluck, then rest in the shade or swim.
Thursday July 18 2024~ Barkcamp Outing.
Meet at the beach parking area at Barkcamp State Park, Ohio. 5:00pm walk, 6:00pm potluck dinner.
Tuesday June 11th 2024 ~ Grand Vue Park Picnic
We will be meeting at Grand Vue Park just outside of Moundsville at the “Barn Shelter”. This new shelter is at the center of the park beside the Red Barn/Flurry’s Ice Cream Shop. It would be best to park in the lot going toward the banquet hall which will allow you a walk on flat lawn rather than climbing the hillside. It is a large shelter with plenty of electrical outlets and seating (picnic tables).
We will begin at 5:00 with a nature walk followed by a potluck dinner at 6:00. With access to the ice cream shop, maybe avoid bringing desserts as most will probably buy ice cream.
Breakfast and Birds 2024! ~ Saturday June 1st
The fifth annual Breakfast & Birds (formally called the Bobolink Bonanza) will take place at a new location in Egypt Valley.
Enjoy a morning of grassland birding and a free breakfast!
This event is hosted by the Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District. A FREE Breakfast will be served from 7:00am - 11:00am.
2024 Ralph K. Bell Memorial Walk ~ Sat. May 25th
The annual Ralph K. Bell Farm outing 9:00am.
Long time BBC member Ralph Bell led this annual walk for more than 50 years before his passing in May of 2014 at the age of 99! The Ralph Bell Bird Club of Greene County continues to lead the walk every May, along with Bell family members, in honor of Ralph and his love of birds.
The walk starts at the Bell family farm in Jefferson PA.
Bring your lunch & chair and enjoy a picnic at the farm after.
Enlow Fork Extravaganza 2024! ~ Sunday May 5th
Enlow Fork is the headwaters of Big Wheeling Creek.
Come and enjoy spring wildflowers and spring migrants in this hidden area of Greene County PA.
This long running event features an 8:00am early morning bird walk and a 10:00am flower & bird walk.
The birds and flowers are always fantastic here!
Food will be available. Bring a chair and enjoy a day of nature!

Due to a conflict in the use of the Schrader Center classroom. Our meeting time on March 16 on been changed to the evening.

7:00 (or earlier) - Program by Laura Hughes: Laura is a biologist who has done extensive trail camera work over the years accumulating many interesting videos of local wildlife that uncovers their hidden lives that few people get to see.

Program: Searching for the Eastern whip-poor-will.

In 2012, WVU graduate student Christina Slover began surveying for Eastern whip-poor-wills throughout the Monongahela National Forest. The surveys helped her discover more about whippoorwill habitat. She was also introduced to an ongoing National effort to better understand nightjars called the Nightjar Survey Network. Since the completion of her Masters Christina has continued to search for whip-poor-will's by creating new nocturnal routes in Monroe County, Ohio. Come learn more about Eastern whip-poor-will habitat in WV and how you can contribute to nightjar surveys.

With the evenings getting darker sooner, this will be a mid-day meeting with a potluck lunch. Possibly a walk prior to lunch, weather depending.
