2002 FORAY INFORMATION
Date: June 7-15, 2002
Location: Upshur County Youth Camp, Selbyville, WV
It is situated on a flat clearing with the Buckhannon River running beautifully through camp and mountain ridges rising steeply on both sides.
Territory: Because of the location, the extreme southern edge of Upshur County, the territory will also include parts of Randolph, Lewis and Webster Counties.  Such areas as Helvetia, Holly River State Park and Kumbrabow State Forest.
Elevation: 2000 feet at camp to 3900 feet at Buck Knob
Habitat: Diverse with many interesting places to explore
Program Emphasis:  The program will emphasize birds.  You will have opportunities to join in the Breeding Surveys, Bird Population Studies and Early Morning Bird Walks.  There will also be field work in Flowering Plants, Mammals, Herptiles, Insects and Amphibians.
Instructors: Instructors at Foray are all experienced field biologists, some professional, others amateurs, but all specialists in their field of nature.  Their informal leadership and enthusiasm to help people should make Foray both enjoyable and educational.
Daily Activities: A program of lectures & field trips for campers who wish to participate.
Rules: Rules governing Foray are few.  We expect you to contribute your share toward making Foray a success.  While the club cannot be held responsible for any individual, all precautions will be taken to safeguard each participant and all attendees will be covered by liability insurance.
Cost: Includes lodging, meals, morning snack, fees and insurance.  See Application for cost breakdown.
Accommodations: Accommodations include a large dining hall and meeting room with adequate space for the library and lab.  Housing includes brand new dormitories for the men and women.  Plenty of hot and cold running water in the showers and indoor flush toilets make this a comfortable camp.
Camping: There’s plenty of room for tent camping if desired, but no electric or water hook-ups for RV’s or camping trailers will be available.
Meals: Meals will be good and furnished by our camp cooks.  There will be early morning snacks and evening snacks.  There will be two all day excursions for which bag lunches will be supplied.
Silent Auction: Held during Foray to raise money for the scholarship fund.  Donated items to the auction are needed and much appreciated.  The donor may put a minimum bid on donations, if desired.
