North to Alaska - TRIP IS FULL
Well, the suggestion of a
trip to Alaska
in 2008 met with enthusiasm from those attending the Annual Meeting in
October. It's not cast in stone, but I
am currently holding plane tickets for July 4th to July 17th. I have contacted Andy Hoffman (originally
from Wheeling
and spent twenty-five years with Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game) who is
a great
naturalist and birder. He is currently
living in Oregon
and has agreed to be our guide for the trip.
This will be a "planes,
trains, automobiles, and boats" type tour covering all the popular
sights as
well as good spots with which Andy is familiar.
We will fly into Anchorage, go north by rail to Fairbanks where
we will
acquire vans and head south to Sewell or Homer for an island hopping
boat trip
and back to Anchorage for the return flight home.
As I say, this is all loose
but if you are interested in hearing more definite plans as they become
known,
let me know. At this point, there is
absolutely no commitment on your part but strictly to let me know how
many are
actually interested.
